A counselor can assist you with:
Creating a budget that will work for you, answer your questions regarding the foreclosure process, assist you with a developing an plan to help improve credit, advocate on your behalf, help you to resolve your delinquent mortgage status and make referrals (legal).
If you are unable to make your mortgage payment:
- Don’t ignore the problem;
- Contact your lender as soon as you realize that you have a problem;
- Open and respond to all mail from your lender;
- Know your mortgage rights;
- Understand foreclosure prevention options;
- Prioritize your spending;
- Use your assets;
- Avoid foreclosure prevention companies;
- Don’t lose your home to recovery scams!
